Should CPD be Compulsory for CIM Members?

Should CPD be compulsory for all members of The Chartered Institute of Marketing? The Marketer recently featured an article by David Thorp on whether CPD should be compulsory for members. http://www.themarketer.co.uk/institute/continuing-professional-development/?locale=en Obtaining Chartered Marketer status involves completing two consecutive years of 35 hours of Continuing Professional Development. The Chartered Marketer status is available to members; if you are not a Member (MCIM) or Fellow (FCIM) once two CPD years has been completed you must upgrade. To retain this status, 35 hours of CPD much be achieved each year. A 10% random audit of Chartered Marketers is carried out each year by the CIM to check the requirements have been met.
