Where can I get business lists from?
The best place to start is by looking at the Direct Marketing Association website. Companies listed here are members of the association and must abide by the Direct Marketing code of practice http://www.dma.org.uk/content/Dir-Supplier.asp?
The DMA states on its website that:
DMA list companies must have a list owner warranty which confirms that the list has been fairly compiled under data protection law and how frequently the list has been updated. The warranty is not a guarantee of response. To check that the list has a valid warranty you contact the list company directly or the List Warranty Register on 020 7291 3341.
