How can I track who is visiting my website or blog?
There are many web trackers available to use free of charge. Two examples
are:
- StatCounter
- Google Analytics
StatCounter - http://www.statcounter.com/
Provides lots of statistics including:
- Page Loads
- Unique Visitors
- First Time Visitors
- Returning visitors
- Referring Link
- Keywords used to arrive at your blog / website
StatCounter is free for websites receiving less than 9,000 page loads a day. Any more than this and you will need to upgrade.
Google Analytics - http://www.google.com/analytics
Again, lots of statistics including:
- Search Engines - will show you what keywords visitors to your blog/website searched for
- Referring Sites - which website the visitor arrived at your blog / website from
Direct Traffic - number of visitors who came directly to your blog/ website
- Keywords used
Registering for Google Analytics requires a Google mail account (to access your statistics).
Both web statistics providers ask you to register your details with them (Google Analytics requires a Google mail email account). To allow the statistics to work, you need to add some code within your website / blog. The code is provided after registering along with details of where it needs to be entered.Labels: analytics, blog, google, visitors, web stats, website
