B2B Web design

We’re looking at revising our website so that it generates more traffic. One of the people we’ve seen has said we need a landing page. Another has said we don’t. Help! We’re confused! Who is right? It depends! Seriously if your business is a consumer household name, like BBC or Virgin you may need some form of landing page, but this assumes your clients already know [a] who you are and [b] how to find you. It sounds like you’re in the B2B market and that your current website isn’t working as well as it could. We would strongly recommend that you do NOT have a landing page. It's not relevant for you, search engines hate them, clients need to make several clicks to get to their destination and to be honest, they’re a bit dated. We do recommend a more dynamic website, where you can make changes, add news. We use a content management system [CMS] called PageMasterPRO from Star Digital. We can update online, at any time of day, we can add news items to be published on certain dates and yes it generates plenty of traffic – and more – real enquiries to our site as well. A great Open Source solution can be found with Senokian Solutions who have created an excellent CMS system that links to a customer database too.
